Crnogorsko narodno pozorište predstavilo se sinoć sarajevskoj publici izvedbom prve crnogorske opere “Balkanska carica”.
Libreto “Balkanske carice” baziran je na dramskom spjevu kralja Nikole Petrovića Njegoša. Na jednostavan način on sažima ogromne strasti i velike teme romantičarske književnosti i muzike, a to su izdaja, fatalna tragična ljubav, borba za vlast, osveta, smrt..
Kompozitor opere koja je nastala u devetoj deceniji devetnaestog vijeka je Dionisie de Sarno San Giorgio. Režiju i adaptaciju uradila je Radmila Vojvodić,a dirigovao je Aleksej Šatski.
Uloge su ostvarili Dejan Maksimović, Vedrana Šimić, Jelena Marković, Amanda Stojović, Ivica Šarić, Dragoljub Bajić, Vladimir Andrić, Stevan Popović, Radovan Minić i Čedomir Bošković.
Gostovanje "Balkanske carice" na programu "Sarajevske zime" ujedno je i njeno prvo međunarodno gostovanje.
